Our feature focus: MedX Phototherapy

"The new, innovative treatment proven to be so effective it's utilized by the Toronto Blue Jays."

Phototherapy works by photons of light penetrating skin and underlying tissues. These light photons are absorbed by cells, triggering cellular activity that facilitates homeostasis, a relative constancy or balance of the internal environment of the body. It is a noninvasive, FDA-approved therapy used to treat a vast array of diagnoses, some of which are nerve compression syndromes, arthritis, tendonitis, traumatic soft tissue injuries and lacerations, fractures, open wounds and burns.

There are numerous published papers and scientific studies supporting the efficacy of phototherapy. However, our proof is in the excellent results in our own patient population.

At The Centre’s Rehabilitation Department, patients have experienced very positive outcomes evidenced in accelerated tissue healing, softening of scars and decreased inflammation, swelling and pain, thus promoting a speedier improvement in mobility, function and strength and a more timely return to previous vocational and avocational activities.
